Artificial fog in the greenhouse

Artificial fog in the greenhouse

High yields depend on many factors, one of which is sufficient moisture for plants grown in greenhouse conditions. Irrigation is currently carried out using various methods, each of which has a certain set of advantages and features. One of the most popular and most effective is fog in a greenhouse.

The presented irrigation method has a simple design, and all equipment can be positioned at different angles. Due to the rapid evaporation of fog, the air masses in the greenhouse are cooled according to the principle of evaporative cooling. In addition, additional humidification of the air is noted if there is low relative humidity.

Fog irrigation in a greenhouse - how effective is it?

Despite the fact that the fog irrigation system in a greenhouse is considered structurally simple, its efficiency does not become less. The process of uniform spraying of water is carried out using the appropriate pressure, for which the pump used is responsible. As a result, small particles of water come out of the main line and are sprayed over a large area. Most often, the size of such particles reaches no more than 5 microns, and therefore, literally immediately upon contact with air, they turn into fog.

Using fog irrigation in a greenhouse, you will be able to get acquainted with all the advantages of this system:

  • Creation of the most optimal microclimate in the greenhouse, increasing crop yields.
  • Reduction of labor costs aimed at effective maintenance of the site.
  • Rapid vegetative growth of various plants that are grown in greenhouse conditions.
  • Economical water consumption during irrigation and at the same time sufficient moisture of the entire area.
  • The ability to maintain the required level of moisture in the soil and plants as a whole, regardless of the season, weather conditions.

Today, a fogging system is considered an integral element in the design of any modern greenhouse. But to achieve the desired effect, you will need to pay special attention to the correct selection of equipment, various components and further competent design of the system.

Is it possible to make a fog system for a greenhouse with your own hands?

Thanks to the availability and variety of all elements, you can create fog in a greenhouse with your own hands, adhering to simple rules. It is important to remember that a fogging system in greenhouse conditions can be combined with a drip irrigation system.

Depending on the selected type of design, you can choose a convenient control method - manual or automatic, using all kinds of timers, controllers for irrigation.

According to the standard, the design consists of the following list of components:

  • A pump, without which it is difficult to imagine the required pressure in the system. The power is selected taking into account the simple and quick irrigation of the entire area in the greenhouse.
  • A set of filters that eliminate the possibility of possible clogging of nozzles. Thus, it will be possible to extend the service life of the entire humidification system.
  • A set of nozzles responsible for the procedure of effective spraying. They differ in shape, hole size and configuration.
  • A control panel that is responsible for the operation of all equipment, for monitoring operating parameters.

As a result, artificial fog allows not only to moisten the soil in the greenhouse, but also to get rid of various insects. With the help of such equipment, you can also apply foliar feeding.
